WHILE riding his bike around his ranch in late September, TikToker Preston (@depreston5) wasn’t prepared for the sight that greeted him. He decided to stop and film a zebra running and enjoying the meadow to show his wife, but what followed looked like a scene from a movie.
It turns out that the zebra wasn’t just enjoying the meadow, it was planning an escape. First, it ran towards a 2.1-meter-high fence and somehow jumped over it, performing an incredible somersault. However, when it tried to jump over a second fence, it wasn’t so lucky.
The unfortunate zebra’s escape attempt thus failed and she was left trapped in the meadow, in the same situation as before her acrobatic move. Preston wrote in the video description: “I was just trying to get a great video of this zebra and this happened. I couldn’t believe it.”
Many thought the footage was fake.
It’s no surprise that Preston’s video went viral, garnering more than six million views, one million likes, and seven thousand comments, writes PetHelpful .
“That first somersault looked like it was practiced,” one user wrote, while another added: “That zebra was obviously already running away because she did the somersault masterfully and tried to do the same thing on the other side.”
Many were convinced that the recording was fake and generated by artificial intelligence, while one user pointed out: “No one would believe you if you hadn’t recorded this!” Due to numerous doubts, Preston recorded a second video in which he explained the details of the event.
He confirmed that the video was not generated by artificial intelligence and explained that he had contacted friends from the ranch, who revealed to him that this was not the zebra’s first escape attempt.
